Charles Fazzino is most well-known for his cityscape artwork. His collection features works on New York, Paris, Rome, Berlin, and Moscow, all in his easily recognizable  signature Fazzino style of color and composition. We recently came across some other artists who have created their own interpretations of cityscapes around the world. They’ve done so by using everyday household objects to assemble some of the most amazing cities we’ve ever seen.

“I just love these,” said Charles Fazzino. “I love the use of everyday objects to make such extravagant pieces. Some of these are better than any conceptual installations that I’ve seen in many of our modern art museums lately. My favorites are the poker chip city and the steel pot sculpture. Art like this inspires me.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 4, 2014

Internationally renowned 3D pop artist Fazzino partners with The Mural Kings to release the first 3D Pop/Graffiti Fine Art Collaboration

Hot town summer in the city SIGNED LR

For Immediate Release

New Rochelle, NY – –Acclaimed 3D pop artist Charles Fazzino and legendary Bronx-based graffiti artists TATS Cru have come together to create a collaborative limited edition artwork titled “Hot Town, Summer in the City…1970’s NYC.” The first partnership of its kind finds the contemporary pop artist Fazzino rendering 1970’s New York City complete with subway cars “tagged” by the famed graffiti group. The artwork will be released as a limited edition in the signature three-dimensional Fazzino style by Fazzino’s publishing company, Museum Editions, Ltd.

Fazzino, famous for his 3D cityscape work, painted this New York Cityscape with The Mural Kings in mind. “I wanted to create a period piece that not only shows what New York City was like around the time of the great graffiti artists, but give the TATS Cru a canvas worthy of their talent,” said Fazzino. “I am honored to be working with them and thrilled with the way our styles fit  together so naturally.”

This artwork represents the first time that Charles Fazzino has rendered the World Trade Center in a limited edition artwork since 9-11. The piece is a journey through classic 1970’s NYC and includes some of the most famous nostalgic landmarks including the Pan Am Building, Howard Johnson’s, Crazy Eddie’s and The Roseland Ballroom. “I wanted to remind people what it was like then….take them back in time….bring them fond and fun memories. The addition of the TATS Cru art just makes it a more genuine remembrance. Graffiti art was such an important part of popular culture back then and these guys were, and still are, the best.”

TATS Cru is based in New York City and operate today as professional muralists, whose work in aerosol has transformed graffiti into a commercially beneficial art form. They are sought after all over the world to paint distinctive, vibrant, attention-grabbing murals for celebrities, businesses and individual collectors. “Growing up in New York City in the 70′s graffiti was part of our landscape,” says Bio. “We are very excited and honored to have collaborated with Charles Fazzino on this project, it has taken us back to relive our childhood. Yes we miss the Old New York.”

“Hot Town, Summer in the City” limited editions and originals will be available for sale starting in mid-April, 2014. They will be sold through any authorized Fazzino Art Gallery or collectors can email info@fazzinocollectors.com for purchasing information.

“City by the Bay,” “That San Francisco Treat” and “Our Day in San Francisco” have been added to the collection since  then, as have some incredibly vibrant original works. Getting Cheeky on the Queue in Londons West End LR

Getting Cheeky in the Queue in West End London was conceptualized by Charles Fazzino when he was in London for the Olympic Games in 2012. “I was in London for ten days, making appearances at the USA House, the American School in London, and the Procter & Gamble Family Home. I took an afternoon off to play tourist and found myself in the audience at ‘Jersey Boys” in the West End. I loved it so much and the atmosphere in that area of London reminded me so much of Broadway, that I just had to make it my next London release. I hope you enjoy it.”

Charles Fazzino’s first limited edition release about London was actually just called “London” and it was a lithograph released in 1991. Since then he has created dozens of limited editions and original pop art paintings about the Royal City.

On the heels of the popular and sold out release “Illusions of New York,” Charles Fazzino is releasing a new New York series on aluminum titled “Midnight in Manhattan.”  This time, he’s experimenting with color. The piece will be available in the standard black and white, and full color editions. However, he’s also thrown in a blue monochrome print and a green monochrome print. “I love the way the black and white pieces really shine on the aluminum, so I decided to go one step further,” said Fazzino. “We printed the image out in a whole rainbow of monochromatic colors and the green and blue were the ones I liked the best. So, we’re putting them out there. I think they are very cool and just a touch different while still remaining true to my style of rendering New York City.”

Come Fly Away, Come Fly with Me…In NYC

Just as everyone is ready for a break from old man winter, Charles Fazzino releases his newest New York City limited edition, “Come Fly Away, Come Fly with Me…In NYC.”  It is a breathe of fresh spring air…colorful, and clear, and uplifting. “I meant for this piece to evoke freedom of spirit and new beginnings,” said Fazzino. “The sky is full of white fluffy clouds and wherever you go in NYC, you can look up and feel a sense of adventure and playfulness. The butterflies and dragonflies are a metaphor as they launch on their flight of joy and whimsy. It’s a fun piece and a fun look at the city I love.

NYC Little Green Apple LR

Charles Fazzino is famous for painting New York City….and in turn, for using the apple as his signature symbol. With “NYC’S Little Green Apple,” he makes a departure from the norm and goes out on a (tree) limb. :-)

NYC’s Little Green Apple

“Takin’ a Ride Around the Big Apple,” “The Apple is Manhattan,” “Apple-tizingly New York,” and “NYC’s Uptown Apple.” These are all Fazzino apple-shaped limited editions released in the last ten years….and all are sold out. With his latest apple piece, Fazzino decided on a twist – painting the apple green. “I created an original last year and in it was a green apple,” said Fazzino. “People asked me why I was painting a green apple and my answer was pretty simple – not all apples are green. But I just loved the way it turned out so I’m a little bit obsessed with green apples right now. The initial response to the edition has been great and I just think it’s very cute. I’m sure there will be more green apples….and who knows what other colors….in my future.”

Fazzino Apples

The apple has been at the core of Fazzino’s New York City pop art collection for many years. “Broadway’s Big Apple Night” is another currently available apple limited edition and there are always several apple-shaped uniques available but they don’t tend to stay around for long! The apple is even the focus of Fazzino’s first collaboration with his daughter Heather, “Tagging the Big Apple.” That piece is a bit edgier and experimental but the apple shape makes it quintessentially Fazzino.

Fahklumpt and famisched in this meshuganeh city PROOFLR

This month, Charles Fazzino returns to his roots and releases a whimsical and fun rendering of the Lower East Side of New York City.

Fahklumpt and Famisched in this Meshugeneh City…NYC

While still a student at the School of Visual Arts, Charles Fazzino began painting the restaurants and Deli’s on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. These were his first NYC creations and they were very popular with the locals. The New York City collection has obviously expanded in scope since that time, but Fazzino seems to return to this theme again and again. In this latest release, we find the always-present Katz’s Deli along with the dancing hot dog and bagel, and some unusual characters like Spiderman and the Fidler on the Roof. “I haven’t really done a piece like this since ‘Schmaltzy Shmatteh’s to NY Bobkes’ in 2001,” commented Fazzino. “I love everything about that part of New York City… the sounds, the foods, the culture.”

Fazzino on The Lower East Side

The Lower East Side has been a cornerstone of Fazzino’s New York City pop art collection for many years. “From Fishes to Knishes” was a very popular release in 1994, while “Schlepping on 2nd” came out in 1997. Notice the evolution in style and color palette. “Fahklumpt” makes a very dramatic statement. However, it’s also interesting to note how many of the places and buildings are the same… except of course, for the famous World Trade Center. In fact “Schmaltzy Shmatteh’s” in 1997 was the last time Fazzino included the World Trade Center in a limited edition until the release in 2014 of “Hot Town Summer in the City.”
